September 17th, 2015 – Freedom Relay and Fair Trade Market

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HELP END MODERN DAY SLAVERY IN OUR COMMUNITY BY TAKING PART IN THE FREEDOM RELAY!!!

Join Persons Against the Crime of Trafficking in Humans (PACT-Ottawa), the Ottawa Coalition to End Human Trafficking (OCEHT) and Chrysalis Anti-Human Trafficking Network for a Freedom Relay! This event will support crucial services in our community that support victims of human trafficking.

Human trafficking is MODERN DAY SLAVERY! It recruits, moves and/or harbours men, women and children through deception, coercion or force in order to exploit them sexually, through labour and/or domestic servitude, and/or by removing their organs. This exploitation is dehumanizing, violent, relentless and it happens RIGHT HERE in our communities! The majority of victims in the Ottawa region are youth, some as young as 9 years old.1 Through this event YOU can help too!!!

Prizes will be awarded for the most spirited team, the highest fundraising team, and the highest fundraising individual. There will also be a Fair Trade Market for Fair Trade vendors to promote and sell their products.

Please come out and support this very important event!
