Description of the Committee:  This committee works to meet the resource and support needs of victims who have been trafficked for the purpose of labour exploitation and / or domestic servitude.

Description of the Position: The Committee Head is responsible for the design, development and implementation of activities that serve to realize the Committee’s mandate and advance the overall mandate of the OCEHT.  The Committee Head is responsible for:

  • managing volunteers;
  • distributing and monitoring work within the Committee;
  • attending Committee Head meetings and other meetings as may be required;
  • providing references for volunteers;
  • working with other Committees and organizations within and outside the OCEHT;
  • reaching out to the community as required;
  • providing monthly reports to the Chair (and the OCEHT, as required);
  • contributing ideas and information on ways to advance the Committee’s work, and
  • conducting any other activities as required by the Chair or Vice Chair.

Length of Commitment:  A period of 2 years, with the option to renew twice for a period of 1 year each (up to a maximum total period of 4 years).

Education:  Secondary School Diploma. Post-secondary education in victimology, law, sociology, criminology or human rights is an asset.

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of the crime of human trafficking in humans, along with knowledge of the current situation of this issue in Ottawa, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the structure, mandate and communications platforms of the OCEHT.

Professional Experience:  Experience in a supervisory position is required. Project management experience is an asset.

Volunteer Experience:  2 years’ of volunteer experience and/or 1 year leading a project.
