I am a private contractor who has worked within the Inuit community in both Nunavut and in Ottawa since 2011. I have worked women’s shelters, youth drop in centre’s, child protection, community agency providing individual and family support and case management. The risk of HT is very apparent for Inuit women and I have witnessed it first hand. Not many people are aware or willing to discuss this issue within the community but it is happening. The girls are at such risk due to long standing neglect and lack of resources that they are often targets for HT. I have a strong passion for the community and how it relates to Human trafficking.
