As a Social Service Worker, I currently work as a shelter supervisor that serves youth experiencing homelessness in the Ottawa region. We are currently in the process of developing a day program that will provide support services to female youth who are victims of human trafficking. Many clients have deep-rooted psychological trauma, are coping with addiction issues, or have been coerced into criminal activity as a result of being a victim of human trafficking.

Human trafficking is a growing problem across Ontario, so I am interested in becoming a committed member of the Ottawa Coalition to End Human Trafficking (OCEHT) to participate in the development of the appropriate resources for victims and to educate and raise awareness of human trafficking in my community. I am continuously seeking new opportunities to learn, be involved within my community, and gain further knowledge of how I can best support victims and clients.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
